The Stockton Heat are committed help the Stockton Unified School District along with the Mayor’s Office to help encourage reading amongst elementary school kids. Twice a month, Stockton Heat players are reading to second grade students at Fremont, Taft, Van Burren, Hamilton and Monroe Elementary Schools. Additionally, players are spending additional time with students reading to them at Angelou Library.
Heat players are helping teachers explain the importance of reading and taking the messages from these books to help them become better friends and classmates with one another. Schools are tracking their student’s reading hours and the winning school will receive free tickets for the Stockton Heat’s regular season finale on Saturday, April 14 at 6 PM.
