Hath is back! 👏
The Heat’s alternate captain for the last two years inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Flames and will return to the organization looking for even more time in Calgary this season!
Garnet Hathaway started his pro career having to battle for every inch, earning his way onto the Adirondack Flames (AHL) and eventually earning his first NHL contract with the Flames after an excellent season in Glens Falls, NY.
Hathaway would move with the team from New York to California as he was one of the inaugural members of the Stockton Heat in 2015-16 but wouldn’t stay for long.
He’d earn a call-up to the Calgary Flames and make his NHL Debut on a Leap Year no less, February 29, 2016 in Philadelphia against the Flyers. He’d play 14 games for the Flames, missing much of the Heat’s push for the postseason, but would return and nearly did help get the Heat to the postseason.
It’d be a similar path for Hathaway in 2016-17 but he nearly doubled his time in Calgary, playing in 26 games and even recording his first NHL goal on November 20, 2016 in a Calgary Flames win over the Detroit Red Wings. His year was split between the Flames and the Heat and this year, he did help push the Heat to the playoffs.
In fact, Hathaway’s presence in the lineup for Calgary and Stockton was pretty outstanding during 2017-18 as pointed out by Flames beat writer at The Canadian Press, Darren Haynes.
Flames have re-signed good-luck charm Garnet Hathaway. Between Stockton (20-6-5) and Calgary (18-7-1), had a personal .719 WIN% last season.

Hathaway’s hard work and determination to succeed has endeared him to Stockton fans, making him one of the most popular faces in the Central Valley. A face we may see again after inking his second NHL contract with the Flames.
Congrats Hath! Let’s make some more memories like the ones you’ve already made with us all!
