Michael Czarnota, Ph.D.
Sport Concussion Consultant
Dr. Czarnota’s practice now centers on the diagnosis and assessment of traumatic brain injury, including inpatient, outpatient and IME evaluations. His practice expanded to include the evaluation and management of sport-related concussion beginning in 1998 and he now serves as the primary Neuropsychology consultant for numerous programs that span high school, collegiate and professional levels, including the Ontario Hockey League (2002), Western Hockey League (2007), Central Hockey League (2008) and ECHL (2009).
Dr. Czarnota is currently involved in several projects and grants aimed in improving concussion education, awareness and services to young athletes, including the Hockey Concussion Neurotrauma Initiative. He was a featured faculty member of the London Concussion Summit (2009), provided a CEU opportunity in Niagara Falls, Ontario as part of Docs on Ice (2009) and presently serves as the Director of Neuropsychology for ATS Sports Medicine Foundation.
Education: Dr. Czarnota is presently in independent private practice based in the Detroit, Michigan area. He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University in 1993 with a special focus in Neuropsychology and completed a two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Rehabilitation Neuropsychology department at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
