Spencer Foo’s Two Goals Not Enough in the 6-4 Loss to San Jose
Stockton, CA. – Stockton’s comeback attempt falls short against San Jose in the 6-4 loss to the Barracuda. San Jose strikes early and often against the Heat to build a lead and shut down Stockton’s comeback attempt. San Jose’s Alexander True capitalized on a early chance just 1:25 into the game to lead 1-0. 50 seconds later, San Jose’s Manuel Wiederer gets another Barracuda goal to extend the lead to a pair. Stockton managed the two-goal deficit by killing off a 5-on-3 penalty kill early first period. John McCarthy deflected a Barracuda point shot to beat Nick Schneider, giving San Jose a 3-0 lead heading to the intermission. Stockton’s comeback bid started with Matthew Phillip’s fifth goal of the season off a beautiful play set up by Dillon Dube and Glenn Gawdin. With the momentum in Stockton’s favor, San Jose scored less than two minutes later, handing San Jose another three-goal cushion. Spencer Foo scored two goals on the night, his seventh and eighth of the year, but San Jose hung out win behind another strong offensive showing from the Barracuda forwards.
Stockton turns the page to a full week of practice for the first time since October. They will stay at home and host the Manitoba Moose for two straight games next Friday and Saturday night. Saturday is our Military Appreciation Night and the Heat are giving away a Heat camouflage hat.

INTERVIEWS
“Just getting to the right spots and the pucks finally come my way. Sometimes its a matter of getting some bounces and that’s how it seemed this weekend.” – Spencer Foo on his recent offensive effort
“It’s tough. Giving up an early goal is something that you want to avoid. Obviously, If you do give one up, you need to answer back and we failed to do that.” – Coach Cail MacLean on tonight’s slow start
“We started to do the right thing with the puck. We started to get it where we needed to go in terms of getting in behind their defenseman. Taking the puck out of their forwards hands by just playing deep in their zone.” – Coach MacLean on picking up the pace in the second period
“I think tonight Nick Schneider faced some tough situations where some he would like back, but there was a few that I don’t think were any fault of his.” – Coach MacLean on pulling Nick Schneider from goal
