Stockton’s Pipeline Helping in Calgary
“It was a good night for the Stockton Heat,” said a reporter in Calgary following the 5-2 Flames win at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
“Did they win tonight?” said Bill Peters.
Peters soon realized the reporter was referencing his Calgary Flames lineup on Saturday night that featured eight former Stockton players, including two goal scorers Oliver Kylington and Alan Quine that led to the Flames 5-2 victory.
Amidst injuries and suspensions to the Calgary Flames roster, seven players have been recalled from the Stockton Heat since November 23.
Kylington joins Rasmus Andersson up in Calgary as a defenseman that used Stockton’s development grounds to bolster his play in his own end. Kylington continues to be an offensive first guy. He had 7 goals and 14 points in 18 games this season with the Heat. Saturday marked Kylington’s first NHL goal in his seventh NHL game.
Former Flames farmhand, Alan Quine capped off the team’s five-goal performance for Calgary with his first goal as a member of the Flames. Prior to a pair of NHL games this weekend, Quine had played in 84 NHL games for the New York Islanders from 2016-2018. Quine is tied for second on Stockton in scoring with 19 points this season in 15 games.
Mark Jankowski and Garnet Hathaway are now both in their second full seasons as members of the Calgary Flames. The two former Heat forwards are happy to have their former Heat linemate, Andrew Mangiapane, up with them in Calgary.
Former Heat goaltender David Rittich is turning heads in Calgary with his stellar play in goal. Rittich sports an impressive record of 8-3-1 with a 2.29 GAA and .922 SV%.
Through the first third of the season, seven players have played a game for both Stockton and Calgary this season: Dillon Dube, Oliver Kylington, Dalton Prout, Andrew Mangiapane, Anthony Peluso, Ryan Lomberg and Alan Quine.
