On March 16, the AHL released the following statement:
The American Hockey League has advised its clubs that the indefinite suspension of AHL play will not be lifted before May.
The League is recommending that teams facilitate the return of AHL players to their primary residences.
As part of the continued effort of Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation to ‘flatten the curve,’ the Heat Front Office Staff has been encouraged to work from home when possible. On March 12, the AHL released the following statement:
“With the health and safety of our players, officials, staff and fans of primary importance, the American Hockey League has announced the suspension of play until further notice, effective immediately, due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.
The AHL will continue to monitor developments and will provide updates on the 2019-20 season at the appropriate time.”
In conjunction, the Stockton Heat released the following statement:
“The health, safety and well-being of our fans, staff and players remain the most important priority of the Stockton Heat and Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation. The Heat and CSEC are in full support of the American Hockey League’s decision of the suspension of play of the 2019-20 season, effective immediately and until further notice, due to COVID – 19.
As a result of this decision, the Heat home games this weekend against the Colorado Eagles will not take place as originally scheduled.
We are currently working on answers to frequently asked questions from our various stakeholders and it is our intention to communicate on a regular basis as this situation is fluid. For further updates please refer to our website at www.stocktonheat.com.
As with the AHL, we are hopeful to resume the season and playoffs when appropriate and prudent.”
ASM Global, operating manager of Stockton Arena, released the following statement:
“Like other large venues, Stockton Arena will be following the policy recommended by public health officials at the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and adopted by the City of Stockton with regard to mass gatherings. These recommendations find that public and private gatherings of 250 people or more should be suspended through March 30th. We are currently working with our event organizers to determine how to best manage the suspension of affected events and appreciate the public’s patience and understanding at this time. The health and public safety of our guests and employees remain a priority as we mange through these unprecedented times. Play has been suspended until at least May 1. The Heat were set to host the Colorado Eagles on March 14 and 15 when the suspension went into effect.
Heat365 Members: Partial-season Heat365 Members who will miss previously-selected games due to the suspension of play, rescheduling or cancellation of games may replace those dates later this season or in the playoffs. Full-Season Members who are unable to attend rescheduled or cancelled games will receive add-on credit for the Calder Cup Playoffs.
Group Outings: Group Leaders will be contacted by a Stockton Heat ticketing executive to reschedule their group night upon resumption of play or if no remaining game dates will suffice, those groups will receive first preference of next year’s available dates.
In-Shape Flex Holders: In-Shape Flex vouchers are eligible to be redeemed upon resumption of the 2019-20 season and the 2020 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Single-Game Tickets: Tickets already purchased on a single game basis for a postponed game will be honored when the game is rescheduled (please retain your original ticket). If games are not played or played in an empty-arena, fans will have the option for a refund. For a refund please direct that to your original point of sale.
